Simulated Annealing and Its Problems to Color Graphs

چکیده
Simulated Annealing is a very successful heuristic for various problems in combinatorial optimization. In this paper an application of Simulated Annealing to the 3-coloring problem is considered. In contrast to many good empirical results we will show for a certain class of graphs that the expected rst hitting time of a proper coloring, given an arbitrary cooling scheme, is of exponential size. These results are complementary to those in 13], where the convergence of Simulated Annealing to an optimal solution in exponential time is proved.

َA Multi-objective simulated annealing algorithm to solving flexible no-wait flowshop scheduling problems with transportation times
This paper deals with a bi-objective hybrid no-wait flowshop scheduling problem minimizing the makespan and total weighted tardiness, in which we consider transportation times between stages. Obtaining an optimal solution for this type of complex, large-sized problem in reasonable computational time by using traditional approaches and optimization tools is extremely difficult. متن کاملA Mushy State Simulated Annealing
It is a long time that the Simulated Annealing (SA) procedure has been introduced as a model-free optimization for solving NP-hard problems. Improvements from the standard SA in the recent decade mostly concentrate on combining its original algorithm with some heuristic methods. These modifications are rarely happened to the initial condition selection methods from which the annealing schedules...
متن کاملSIMULATED ANNEALING ALGORITHM FOR SELECTING SUBOPTIMAL CYCLE BASIS OF A GRAPH
The cycle basis of a graph arises in a wide range of engineering problems and has a variety of applications. Minimal and optimal cycle bases reduce the time and memory required for most of such applications. One of the important applications of cycle basis in civil engineering is its use in the force method to frame analysis to generate sparse flexibility matrices, which is needed for optimal a...
متن کاملSimulated Annealing Approach for Solving Bilevel Programming Problem
Bilevel programming, a tool for modeling decentralized decision problems, consists of the objective of the leader at its first level and that of the follower at the second level. Bilevel programming has been proved to be an Np-hard problem. Numerous algorithms have been developed for solving bilevel programming problems. These algorithms lack the required efficiency for solving a real problem. ...

The general facility location problem and its variants, including most location-allocation and P-median problems, are known to be NP-hard combinatorial optimization problems. Consequently , there is now a substantial body of literature on heuristic algorithms for a variety of location problems, among which can be found several versions of the well-known simulated annealing algorithm.
